Hello people of the internet! My name is Kendall Haun and I am a student at Cal Poly Pomona. This website serves as my final project for Anthropology 112 with Professor Buchanan but it also serves to inform you all on just how little the internet knows compared to the library. Maybe it's just me but when I'm asked to do research my first inclination is to go to the internet and Google the topic. I know now that this is not always the best option. When searching Samoan culture on the internet my first time around, I found very little useful information from websites that had an alterior motive to promote tourism. Most of the information only included their dance and food as way to get people interested in visiting. While this is understandable because a huge part of Samoa's economy is tourism, I was bothered by how the Internet only scratched the surface of everything there is to know about Samoa. While doing research in the library, I found many many books (mostly old) all about traditional Samoa that I cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet. Throughout the tabs on this website, I'll be sharing information on Samoa but from an anthropological view of comparing what was included on the Internet and what was not. Educating the people of the Internet on Samoan culture would be an added bonus as well. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy..
